South America

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

My final stop in South America on my dream trip was Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. From Caracas, Venezuela to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, the distance tavelled is approximately 4518.16 Km. I was visiting Rio De Janeiro for the week of June 16th - 22nd, 2012. The flight time is 5 hours and 42 minutes if flown direct, but there are no direct flights so i had a one-stop flight that stopped in Sao Paulo, and the layover time was 4 hours and 24 minutes, making the total flight time 11 hours and 6 minutes. The cost for this is approximately $1032 for a one way trip from Caracas, Venezuela, to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

While staying in Rio De Janeiro, I stayed at the Porto Bay Rio Internacional Hotel at a price of $268 per night. The room had an incredible view and the staff was very polite and friendly.

Christ The Redemmer

Christ The Redemmer

While visiting, I toured many of the famous places Rio De Janeiro is famous for. The first landmark I visited was Christ the Redemmer. This is the most well known landmark in all of Rio De Janeiro and is known all over the world. The view is fabulous as you can see the whole city.

Escadaria Selaron

Escadaria Selaron

Christ the Redeemer along with Escadaria Selaron are well known and used in movies or TV shows such as CSI Miami. When visiting Escadaria Selaron, many friendly people come up to you and offer to take pictures to help you remember your time there. The staircase is really unique and different than any art i have ever seen.

Sugar Loaf Mountain

While touring Rio De Janeiro, I also toured Sugar Loaf Mountain. Sugar Loaf Mountain has superb views of the city and is recommended to go at duck because you will witness a glorious sunset.

Prainha Beach

Prainha Beach

The last place I visited while in Rio De Janeiro was Prainha Beach, which is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach bordered by rocks and high cliffs. Prainha Beach is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and if given the chance, it is recommended you try it because it is a new and fun experience.
